About 4's Company

4's Company has been performing around the country for 17 years. Many things about barbershop harmony resonate with us personally, and each of us has our own story about how we got involved.

Cindy Orzel - Lead

Originally from Wisconsin, Cindy has enjoyed singing since she was a little girl; throughout her school years she grabbed center stage at every opportunity. She first sang barbershop harmony in high school, singing tenor in her first quartet. After high school Cindy auditioned for the Central Wisconsin Chamber Chorale and sang second soprano with them until her family moved to Kansas City in 1996.

While her children were young, singing went by the wayside for a while but she got back into 4-part harmony when she began singing lead with International medalist Kansas City Chorus of Sweet Adelines in 2003. In 2004 she auditioned for the lead spot with 4's Company and has been having a blast ever since! There is nothing quite like great harmony with a twist of humor to entertain audiences across the country. In 2009, 4's Company was thrilled to be named 4th place medalists at the Regional level.

Cindy is the proud mother of two wonderful children, Heather and Dylan, and grandma to granddaughter, Gemma, who loves to sing! A budding Sweet Adeline? We hope so!

Kimi Ruder - Tenor

Kimi Ruder is the tenor of the quartet, singing a light and airy head tone. The operative words are "air" and "head." A lot of the quartet's ridiculous comedy routines are actually nothing more than a re-hash of Kimi's daily life episodes.

4's Company was founded in 1991, and Kimi (she never knew the quartet was ever lost-ed) is the only original member. She prefers to view it as seniority although the other three just call her the oldest.

In real life, Kimi is in law enforcement; although she survived the Police Academy there are numerous references to Barney Fife at her expense. But she takes it all in stride and is quick to point out that, "It takes a lot of brains to be this stupid."

Bobbie Brown - Baritone

Bobbie is the most recent addition to 4's Company. She joined the group in 2008. Baritone is the best part! Bobbie is a self-described late bloomer. She says she is 10 years behind everyone else. So it isn't surprising that she was a baritone in the Kansas City Chorus for 8 years before she auditioned for 4's Company.

Bobbie started out playing the accordian as an 8-year-old, switched to vocal music in high school, and later taught herself to play the guitar. In high school she  won a spot in their award-winning a capella choir singing second soprano. The choir traveled all over southern California. Bobbie once sang a solo at the then famous Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood.

After 32 years  working in telecommunications Bobbie returned to school and became a Registered Nurse.  She has been a School Nurse and is now a Case Manager. 26 years ago Bobbie married a wonderful man, Kerry. They have 4 children and now 8 grandchildren. Bobbie and Kerry love to ballroom dance together and travel on their motorcycle. They have two Australian Shepherds, Mickey and Molly, who provide much entertainment and company.

Pat Duncan - Bass

Pat Duncan, bass, is the mother of two sons and grandmother of one grandson and 2 granddaughters. All of them are musical geniuses according to Pat!

Pat is an experienced and caring nurse employed at Crossroads Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri.

Pat is a member of the Kansas City Chorus and also the a capella group, Impromptunes.  During her many years of singing barbershop harmony, Pat was once known as "Rent-a-Bass." But she says 4's Company is her last quartet. Kimi, Cindy, and Bobbie aren't sure if this is a threat or a promise!
